First CAF D refresher course graduates 30 coaches
The branch has completed its first CAF D refresher course, bringing thirty licensed coaches back into the classroom and onto the training pitch to sharpen what they take back to their clubs.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the completion of the first FKF Nairobi West CAF D refresher course, bringing together thirty coaches from across our leagues for several days of classroom work and practical sessions.
The CAF D licence is the entry point to the continental coaching ladder, and for most coaches working in community football it is the qualification they will actually use every week. A refresher is what keeps that licence from becoming a certificate in a drawer.
What a refresher actually changes
The coaches on this course are the ones running Tuesday and Thursday sessions on hard grounds, often with more players than balls and less time than they would like. The course was built around that reality rather than around an ideal training environment.
Ground covered on the course
- Session planning and progression across a training week
- Coaching the individual inside a team session
- Managing player load and recovery on a community fixture calendar
- Safeguarding and the coach's duty of care to young players
- Communicating with players, parents and club officials
Thirty coaches is not an abstract number. Each of them works with a squad, and many work with more than one age group. The effect of a course like this is measured in the hundreds of players whose next session is better planned than their last one.

Part of a wider programme
The refresher follows the branch's comprehensive coaching course earlier in the year, which widened the syllabus beyond coaching alone into match officiating, data analysis, nutrition and financial management. Together they form the beginning of a standing education calendar rather than a series of one-off events.
